IRYNA – BACKBENDER focuses on close-ups of the fascinating but awkward and taut shapes in the body of a contortionist. The twisted legs, the spine bent backwards, joints perversely rotated to impossible degrees and the ever present rictus of a smile, the eyes alone revealing the immense effort and pain in the performer.
